Special occasions are surely amongst life’s greatest joys.
From announcing your engagement to throwing the 30th to end all others, any excuse for a party is a valid one in our books.
A lot of planning goes into pulling off an event with aplomb, but booking a private venue space or function room has to be our number one tip. You can organise food, drinks and entertainment all under one roof, and there’s a place for you whether you want swish cocktails or a more relaxed beer garden vibe.
No waiting around at a never-ending bar queue or cramming 15 people into a single booth. Trust us on this one, you won’t know yourself!
Fit in some fab food
One of the best bits about planning a big party is, of course, figuring out the food. A private dining experience like Medley by Andrew Rudd would be a lovely way to celebrate a big birthday or anniversary with your nearest and dearest – and the space is versatile too, meaning you can truly make it your own unique event.
If you want something more casual and carnivorous, you could book Wowburger @ Mary’s Bar and Hardware for the ultimate in pub grub – garlic butter fries anyone? (Yes please.)
A night out in your own private bar is the ultimate luxury for those who like a tipple – a function room experience for the 21st Century.
Why not book The Bourbon Bar, where they can tailor the drinks menu to your requirements, or The Exchequer D2 for some of the best cocktails in Dublin? If you want to have a drink and learn a little something, check out Bison Bar where you can book a whiskey, tequila or gin tasting – a perfect birthday night out we think!
Get the VIP experience
Part of the fun of a private party is feeling like you and your guests are in the lap of luxury, and there are plenty of sumptuous spaces in Dublin to choose from.
A legendary venue, Copper Face Jacks also has a decadent VIP room with a private bar, and would be ideal to kick off a hen or stag do. The Amber Rooms on Leeson Street (below) is a sophisticated choice, all dark leather and mood lighting. Plenty of room for a bop, too.
Consider a room with a view
For a glamorous night you’ll never forget, book a private space with stunning views across our charming little city – perfect for watching the sun go down with a G&T in hand. The Gravity Bar at the Guinness Storehouse is nothing short of spectacular, so if you’ve got a major event coming up it’s well worth a look.
For smaller groups, Sophie’s @ The Dean is a spacious restaurant and bar with a rooftop view and top-class food. OR, if none of that’s good enough for you (sheesh), then bask in the beauty of Dublin at night in The Winter Garden @ Fade Street Social for a truly special experience.
And finally… don’t forget the fun and games
The recent advent of games in bars is welcomed by us, and can put the ‘fun’ in function room. Private hire also means no queuing in line for a go of the pool table – a big win.
Check out Busker’s On The Ball, a really unique place with a game for everyone from air hockey to ping-pong. Just remember to play nice!
